This project develops a network application layer protocol that is specific to the problem of supporting data integration and distributed query processing in system where data sources and connections to data sources are subject to interruption and loss. To date, data integration typically assumes a reliable connection-oriented (CO) communication between data-sources and the entity querying the data-sources. In the context of many applications based on mobile agents (such as aircraft, shipping, cars, etc), a connectionless (CL) communication must be assumed, which the requirement that different routes are used to answer parts of the same query, and that partial caches of information spread over the entire network should be used to answer queries as far as possible. This project ended in September 2007.<

This project extends the work done on RoDEx to to build the technology that will allow knowledge present in existing modern software applications plus information of human sources to be integrated in a semi-automated manner. The result will be knowledge integration techniques and tools, suited to knowledge based reasoning and planning in rapidly evolving and environments with unreliable sources of knowledge. These techniques and tools would also have more general applicability to the coordination and knowledge exchange between any group of autonomous systems (AS) and between AS and humans.<
